Objectives
Chanteclair is an exclusive wholesale provider of gems, minerals, and custom jewelry imported from all over the world. This customer came to Foundco seeking a fresh new design for their online brochure site. There are several other large projects in the works including retail sites and other custom software projects.
Clear Web Design
Foundco delivered a site that is both memorable and effective at capturing the audience. The lines of the site, and the user interface were created to be easy to navigate and utilize neo-deco illustrations. We created the site on a dark background with vivid reds, all the better to showcase the products with.
Product Photography
I'll bet you didn't know this, but Foundco also does some pretty excellent product photography work. All of the images on the Chanteclair site are the work of Skyler Hinman, our staff photographer. Silver jewelry is notoriously problematic to photograph; it's very difficult to achieve high quality images that accurately portray the details of silver jewelry without lighting problems. These images took a lot of time to setup and process, but the end result was well worth it.
SEO & Content Management
This site like all other Foundco sites utilizes Objectcode™ software and administration tools for managing meta-data including keywords, descriptions, and page titles. Objectcode uses an active CMS that allows for the simple import of products and images via CSV/ Excel sheets. The CMS contains a built-in WYSIWYG editor for managing body copy. A caching system is used on the pages for quick-load times, and the site automatically generates Google sitemaps when updates occur (via XML).
No Tables
This site uses an entirely table-free layout in XHTML 1.0 for perfect cross-browser display and even scaling.
Conclusion
Overall this web design project turned out to be simple, elegant, and it is now a very effective marketing tool. It is easy to manage and update, and provides exceptional SEO support.
